FTP files

The primary purpose of the FTP server is to house those files we wish to make publicly available either to LDEO users with accounts or to 'anonymous' external users without local accounts. The ftp server also accepts incoming material (usually too large for an email attachment) from the outside from both users with and without LDEO accounts.

Matlab Software

Matlab, a product of MathWorks, is a high-level technical computing language for data analysis, data visualization, and numeric computation.

Matlab can be used in a wide range of applications, including signal and image processing, communications, control design, test and measurement, financial modeling and analysis, and computational biology. Add-on toolboxes extend the Matlab environment. A list of add-ons, available under the same license, can be found in CUIT page (https://cuit.columbia.edu/content/matlab).

The campus-wide concurrent license information for Matlab use can be obtained from LDEO IT group.

INSTALLATION

Current supported Matlab version is Matlab-R2022a.

You can download Matlab from our software download page using your UNI (Columbia's Username) at
https://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/ldeo/it/software/

For Mac installation use the Matlab_R2022a_maci64.dmg file. If your Mac has Apple Silicon chip, first install rosetta. From terminal window run this command (/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta).

Windows users may need to extract contents of the .iso files first (7zip, winrar, isobuster can be used). Once downloaded, double click the installer to start installation.

Select locale Installation option, and don't create an account with MathWorks.
