LDEO IT provides critical infrastructure, computing support, and research computing services to the Lamont community. Our services are categorized into three tiers:

  1. Core Infrastructure & Campus Services – Covered by the Institutional Research Computing (IRC) budget.
  2. User Support & Administrative IT Services – Covered by IRC for LDEO users.
  3. Specialized & Research IT Services – Available on a cost-recovery basis, subject to resource availability.

1. Core Infrastructure & Campus Services 

LDEO IT maintains foundational IT infrastructure that supports research, administration, and collaboration.

Networking & Connectivity

  • Campus-wide local area networking (LAN) and external wide area networking (WAN)
  • Wireless network deployment and management
  • Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services

Identity & Access Management (IAM)

  • License server administration using FlexLM

Event & A/V Support

  • Audio-visual setup, recording, and live streaming (conference/seminar locations)

Proposal & Research Administration Support

  • Grant proposal IT budgeting assistance (pre- and post-award)

Here is a description of the computing services offered by LDEO IT. Infrastructure, and campus services are available to all without additional charge. Items in the Computer Support list are available to LDEO users at no additional charge and services listed as Direct charge items are available for a fee to LDEO users on a time available basis.
